About the Event
***PRESALES ARE NOW CLOSED, TORCHES WILL BE AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE AT BELLE VUE PARK*** Please allow enough time to pick up your torches before the performances begin.
Join us as we follow in the footsteps of the Chartists on the 183rd anniversary of Newport Rising and march from Belle Vue Park to Westgate Square via St Woolos cathedral and Stow Hill. All are welcome and participation is free. Performance at Belle Vue Park Pavillion and at Westgate Square and will be accompanied by the drumming of Barracwda. All march attendees are given priority access to Westgate Hotel following the march (subject to availability and venue capacity).
This event is free thanks to Our Chartist Heritage (Charity no. 1176673). Wax torches are optional and available for a fee of £5 which will cover the cost of torches and support the festival. No alternative sources of flame allowed during event. Strict safety instructions will be provided and must be followed. Arrive early to guarantee time to collect your torches before march begins.
